SDG Education

Sustainable Development Goals
At STEP we organize a seminar every 3 weeks on Tuesday afternoons to discuss about a specific sustainable development goal. This year, we organize SDG goals into 4 different units.
Unit 1
Planet

Unit 1 includes all the goals related to the protection of the climate, wildlife, and natural resources.
We promoted a school wide punch-in activity called “SCLS Combats Climate Change”. The activities are simple, small tasks that can help students develop life long, environmentally habits.
We also invited a panda protection expert from Sichuan to deliver a speech for club members about his job and his motivation.
Unit 2
People

Unit 2 consists of all the goals connected to that deals with poverty, hunger, inequalities and education related problems.
Our club members interviewed people from our school community and asked about their wellbeing. From this, we were able to acknowledge and analyze the level of wellbeing among SCLS members and it was ultimately made into a video that we could preserve.

To contribute to quality education, we partnered with the HS student council to help collect and donate books to the 1074 primary school students in Qinghai province where they were in urgent need of extracurricular reading books.
Unit 3
Prosperity

Goals in Unit 3 aim to ensure prosperous and fulfilling lives in harmony.
To know more about the situation in workplace, our ECA designed a survey targeting employees that covers a variety of aspects, including their level of belonging to the company, things that companies could provide them to help them achieve their goal, and many more. From the collected data, we were able to learn a lot of the needs of the employees, which they are the basis for decent work and economic growth.
Unit 4
Peace & Partnership

Unit 4 is all about postering peaceful relationships between different groups of people as well as implementing the agenda through a global partnership.

As a club, we played with an interactive knowledge-based game about wars to increase awareness of the causes, history, and worldwide regulations.

We also held a debate regarding whether the use of Lethal Autonomous Weapons ought to be banned, since artificial intelligence has rapidly developed over the past years and more countries were capable of manufacturing autonomous weapons. This experience furthers our understanding regarding peace and partnerships.
